Company OverviewCarwood is a world class remanufacturer of vehicle diesel fuel injection, electrical, HVAC and ancillary systems. We are also a major aftermarket supplier of specialised vehicle components. Operating in the UK, Europe and Asia-Pacific, the company has continually delivered high quality products and technical excellence for over 40 years. Carwood Motor Units Ltd was established as an independent auto-electrical specialist in August 1966 in Coventry in the UK Midlands, since then it has developed and acquired both additional expertise and resources in the key business areas of remanufacturing, technical services, diesel systems, electrical systems and HVAC systems largely focussed on the automotive aftermarket. Today we have over 210 employees, with a large proportion of highly skilled technical personnel. The company benefits from a large number of staff (currently 30) that have served with the Company for more than 20 years. UK Locations The Company has 4 main operational centres in the UK. The Head Office in Binley, Coventry, employs more than 110 staff and is the principle technical services centre and specialised parts distribution point for home and export sales, “Carwood Defence” is based at Coventry. The Birmingham “Carwood Diesel Systems” facility has approximately 80 employees and is one of the most advanced diesel fuel injection remanufacturing centres in the world. It includes a Class 7 Clean Room to ISO 14644 for product assembly and a full vehicle diagnostic service unit. Carwood Ollerton was opened following the relocation of the Newark factory in 2012, it is a world class turbocharger and rotating machine remanufacturing facility. The fourth location is Carwood Rewind in Yeovil, it is a specialised rotating electrical remanufacturing centre with a comprehensive coil rewinding capability covering a wide range of AC and DC motor or generator applications and provides the Carwood Group with a vertically integrated electrical machine remanufacturing capability. Addtionally it is able to offer alternator upgrades, Vector Carrier rewinds, heritage electronics and bespoke design and manufacturing services for specialist applications. Overseas Associate overseas companies are based in Hong Kong and Shanghai. As well as providing support for Carwood Motor Units Ltd in sales, logistics and administration, they market, stock, and provide distribution and technical services for a diverse and complimentary range of products for the local Chinese and Asian market, successfully targeting the large shipyards as their prime customers. The Carwood organisation also has sales and distribution facilities based in Singapore for both the local market and neighbouring countries. The German operation was set up in September 2007 and is based in Bielefeld in the North West of the country. The operation provides parts warehousing and logistics primarily to support our DRS Defence customers in Germany. Products & Services The company’s expertise and principle activities are in remanufacturing and specialised technical services for vehicles, plant and equipment. Sectors include automotive, PSV, rail, off-highway and defence industries as well as speciality manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on remanufacturing and refurbishment to OE specification. The main products available are diesel and petrol fuel injection parts including common rail systems, rotating electric machines, turbochargers, generators, electronics, auto electrical assemblies, Ministry of Defence field support equipment, air conditioning, heating systems and electronic air braking systems. Major investment in recent years at both Coventry and Birmingham places Carwood at the leading edge of diesel parts and systems remanufacturing, diagnostics and service. With a total production platform of over 20,000 square feet, OE test equipment approved by the leading system makers, factory trained technicians, and a Class 7 Clean Room (ISO14644), it is not surprising that our Birmingham Facility is a Diesel Centre approved by Bosch, Delphi, Denso, Stanadyne and VDO (Siemens/Continental). We utilise the latest diesel test equipment programmed to the most up to date test plan data, providing the capability to meet the stringent demands of OE and aftermarket customers in terms of both volume and quality. Carwood work very closely with the major O.E. component makers in our specialist sectors, providing sales, distribution, service and warranty for both O.E. fit and aftermarket sales. This is primarily for users, dealers and trade customers operating and servicing trucks, buses, coaches, heavy plant, off-highway, rail and passenger cars. Carwood Defence Parts sourcing, procurement, remanufacturing, manufacturing – Carwood Defence provides a dedicated service to military and other specialist vehicle or equipment customers including low volume and bespoke vehicle and body builders, civil engineers, rail, engine and vehicle manufacturers, municipal authorities and defence organisations including the Ministry of Defence, Army and Royal Navy. The business has extensive expertise in providing solutions to parts obsolescence, procurement difficulties, equipment maintenance, technical upgrades or modifications. To support our UK Defence Customers, satellite warehouse and logistics facilities operate in Birmingham, Colchester, Coventry, Catterick, Donnington, Stirling and Warminster as well as in Bielefeld in Germany. These allow our customer to reduce inventory levels while maintaining ex-stock availability on site and zero lead times on a wide range of parts and components. Major export customers including overseas defence organisations are serviced by Carwood Defence and supported through our overseas offices and representatives, all Carwood products and services are available worldwide. Carwood's mission is to provide aftermarket or remanufactured products in a sustainable way that meet or exceed the specification of the original manufacturer. Maintaining OE standards and performance in the aftermarket for the whole life of the vehicle or equipment.
