Manufacturing

We provide a bespoke manufacturing facility where volumes are considered to be too small by the major suppliers to the industry. This section of the business supplies low volume items to vehicle assemblers for O.E. and to owners or operators where the normal supply source cannot provide the parts due to obsolescence or supersession. Components and finished assembly upgrades are also undertaken where the original part no longer meets specification, performance, safety or legislative requirements.

Principle applications are for refuse, military, PSV, plant, standby power and off highway vehicles, particularly where life expectancy of the vehicles/equipment stretches to more than 20 years.

Product ranges include electronics, instrumentation, lighting, trailer boards, wiper motors, actuators and heater assemblies.

The department frequently works very closely with major component manufacturers where modifications and changes can be made to their existing parts as a means of providing a bespoke and stylised product at an economically attractive price.

Remanufacturing

Carwood are specialists in taking worn out or obsolete equipment or components and subjecting them to a complete remanufacturing process. This process restores the item to a standard of performance and durability that matches or even exceeds that of original manufacture. Today with the improvements in modern environmentally friendly technology in stripping and cleaning, remanufactured products are produced to such a high standard that they are difficult to differentiate from new. There is a growing recognition world wide of the importance of remanufacturing which retains and recycles raw materials and uses 85% less energy than new production. A number of international manufacturers of engines, major components, and sub assemblies now offer a remanufacturing programme to compliment their new products, some of these manufacturers are supplied by Carwood.
